Newsletter no. 24
March 8th, 2009 Letter No. 2 (from Peter's sister) Help Peter! Dear family, friends and those I do not know! Less than two weeks have gone by since I sent my first mail to you, but there is already so much to tell that it is time again. First of all, I would like to THANK you for your support and positive feedback. It is GREAT to feel your love and care. Travelling towards encouragement On Tuesday, February 24, Peter and I finally entered the airplane to Munich. It was a trip with obstacles – strike in the airport, delays, etc. I was worried about Peter, and he was worried about losing precious treatment time. Our worries were shown to be groundless once we reached the clinic in the afternoon. We were met by caring staff and doctors who immediately started to study his hospital records, talked to him, made various assessments, etc. After only two days there I felt that Peter started to relax and he cheered up. They started to check on him to see if he had other diseases as well. It has not been clarified to this moment whether he also has other diseases, but they will surely find out. We felt incredibly safe as we felt their competence within cancer treatment – at the same time as they show a personal interest in and care for the patient, Peter. For Peter, it is almost full-time work to be a patient! If he is not in for an examination or various treatments and therapies, he is getting intravenous treatment. I wanted to show the city park to Peter one of the days but had to give up since he was too busy. Black screen Peter’s laptop went black on our way down there. So if you are astonished by not hearing very much of him, this is the explanation. Instead of feeling annoyed by not being able to communicate with people, Peter takes this to be a time of devotion to God. He needs this time. The last couple of years have been a hard fight against the disease, and this time may return some of the rest he needs so badly. Breathing space for Shanie Shanie has fought alongside Peter day and night throughout this period of disease. I feel it is very hard to image how hard she has fought and how much she has carried during this. I can not imagine a more faithful and dedicated spouse than her. She deserves an immense amount of praise and recognition for her efforts. I know that she, also, needs rest and time to herself and the girls these days. DKK 80,969 ($14,000) in less than 2 weeks! The Danish account holds DKK 58,303 ($10,000). At the same time, a dear co-worker in Slovakia has started fundraising. This has resulted in EUR 3,022.17 ($3,800). This is really encouraging! Each single day she and a lot of other people send words of encouragement. It has not been possible for me to thank you all personally, but I want to let you know that your help makes a difference. We are all deeply moved and grateful. Peter still needs help He needs approx. DKK 200,000 ($35,000) for the hospital bills in Germany. There may be other expenses as well, such as travelling, medicine, etc. The real cost is hard to estimate at present, but we certainly feel safe with God in the midst of this situation. We hope to be able to raise the full amount in order for Peter & Shanie not to get into debt afterwards. I really appreciate the huge support we have gotten. As for the homepage I have received several good offers but I must admit that right now I do not have the energy to think it through. I have decided to start out with a Danish version. Right now I try to take only one step at a time. The most important thing has been to send this follow-up note out to all of you. Account info.: IBAN: DK7230004422221514 S.W.I.F.T. DABADKKK Hjælp Peter Hinge, c/o Anne-Marie Hinge. What can I do? What can I do? If you ask this question, my answer is this: * Pray for Peter and healing for him Pray that the doctors may have great wisdom and insight into Peter’s situation Pray for Peter’s wonderful girls and what they are doing * Help us helping him financially * Tell his story and let this fundraising be known to others But you may as well have something on your mind which will warm, help and do good. Don’t keep it back, but be brave and strong. This is the only way we can win life’s battle. This is what makes a difference in life.
